2026 Festival Recap
Bohemia Mining Days filled Cottage Grove with three days of history, music, competition, community, and old-fashioned festival spirit. An estimated 30,000 people joined us for one of the strongest festival years in recent memory.
Rivers, Rails & Reels
The 2026 theme celebrated the stories that shaped Cottage Grove—from waterways and railroads to the film history tied to Buster Keaton and The General—while bringing classic Bohemia Mining Days traditions back into the heart of town.
Across Coiner Park and downtown Cottage Grove, festival-goers found live music, living history, the Feud Games, contests, food, vendors, the Grand Miners Parade, Ore Cart Races, heritage demonstrations, children’s programming, and plenty of reasons to stay awhile.
The weekend also brought back pieces of Bohemia history that many longtime Grovers remembered. Members of the Bohemia Mine Owners Association partnered with the revived Lemati Gang for staged robbery and shootout performances along the parade route, reconnecting the modern festival with a tradition that entertained crowds for nearly 50 years.

54 Entries Filled Main Street
Community groups, businesses, youth organizations, horses, historic characters, and longtime Bohemia traditions returned to Main Street for the 2026 Grand Miners Parade.
Grand Marshal: Garland Burback
Garland Burback, owner of Cottage Grove Garbage Service, was selected by the BMD Leadership Team as the 2026 Grand Marshal. The former school board member, city councilor, community volunteer, and longtime festival sponsor rode the route in a Lions Club member’s convertible Jaguar.
The Lemati Gang Returns
The Bohemia Mine Owners Association partnered with members of the “infamous” Lemati Gang for staged robbery and shootout performances along the route. Longtime member Tim Schweitzer revived part of the Old West troupe and hopes to recruit younger Grovers to help carry the tradition forward.

Slabtown vs. Lemati
Slabtown and Lemati went head-to-head throughout the festival in the traditional Bohemia Mining Days Feud Games. Slabtown ultimately claimed the 2026 victory.

Memories From the Community
A few of the messages shared after Bohemia Mining Days 2026.
I really want to shout out to the Bohemia Mining Days / Grand Miners Parade staff! This year was one to remember for all the children. As a parent and a participant in the parade, I along with many others thank each of you so much. Your work and willingness to let the kids give out candy and other things was very much appreciated. We can’t wait for next year!
Bohemia Mining Days was a blast.
I had another fantastic time being a part of the Spirit of Bohemia Mining Days parade this year. The theme was River Rails and Reels. Our float featured a filmstrip highlighting local landmarks and film history. Thanks to Don Lamm with Lamm Brothers for the trailer and towing us. We ended the night with Country Night at the bar. What a great time!
So much fun! Love our little town! God has blessed our little town!
