Dress the Part — Be a Living Piece of History

We invite all guests to embrace the spirit of Bohemia Mining Days by dressing in period-inspired attire. Whether you're wearing a full costume or just adding a vintage flair, your participation helps create the immersive historical atmosphere that makes this event so special.

Our festival celebrates Oregon’s rich and diverse heritage during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. People from all over the world settled here—bringing their unique cultures, styles, and stories. That’s why our dress-up themes are broad and inclusive, reflecting the wide range of characters who would have walked the streets of an early Oregon town.

From rugged pioneers and prospectors to elegant townsfolk, tradespeople, immigrants, and reformers—there’s room for everyone to play a part. Help us bring history to life and step into the story of Bohemia.

Matthew Hewlett

I got my start at Bohemia Mining Days in 2019 with the Jail Cell Photobooth and helped with the Art Show we hosted that year. Each year since, the Jail Cell Photobooth has been a favorite among the citizens of Cottage Grove. In 2024, I stepped up to lead the Spirit of BMD celebration to ensure the event continued. Now, I am the Executive Director of Spirit of Bohemia Mining Days, a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating Cottage Grove's history, fostering community engagement, and inspiring future leaders through the annual festival and year-round initiatives.
